Well, hello there! Whether you meant to end up here or not please know that we deeply appreciate the visit. Now that you are here you might as well take a moment and read the following post 🙂
I mentioned in my post a couple of weeks back that Connie and I both know that we are being called into action but did not elaborate on what that meant. This calling has been louder and more prominent for us than anything we can remember. While it is exciting and something that we’ve wanted to shout from the rooftop for a few weeks now, we understand that there is a certain measure of caution that must be applied here and that things have to happen within God’s timing. Preparations must be made, conversations have to happen, and, most of all, a lot of time must be spent in prayer. With that said, it is with great exuberance that today I can share with you that God has called our family into full time ministry in the Dominican Republic! I will be honest with you, when we boarded American Airlines flight 2365 on February 1, 2014 the thought that we would be moving there full time never entered either one of our imaginations. In contrast, as I write this, I cannot ever remember having a more vivid understanding of what I and my family are meant to do. When God speaks you know it.
We will be joining an organization called Project Mañana that was founded by Brian Berman in September of 2010. I cannot put into words how amazed I am with what God is doing through Brian and his wife Carolina and I cannot describe the amount of joy it’s giving Connie and me to know that God is calling us to assist in what He is doing there. I invite you to hop over to PM’s website (www.projectmanana.org) and check it out for yourself. Provided you stay tuned, you’ll see me share a great deal about this organization from this point forward. In the profound words of my buddy Kip, “we dig it”.
As we follow God’s guidance throughout this journey I am actively praying and striving to keep Him first. God has a lot (this is my perspective, not His) to work out before we actually take that flight to the Dominican Republic and I assure you He is able. I assure you of this because I am reminding myself of this daily. Stepping out in faith will entail raising support by partnering with friends that God will raise up. I have shared a couple of my favorite verses with you in previous posts, but one that I have seen proven in my life is Ecclesiastes 4:12. This verse says: A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Connie and I have learned that our marriage is exponentially more successful when we allow God into the relationship and have Him guide us. As we set out on this journey we will need to fashion another triple-braided cord that will consist of God, us, and a support system of friends that are willing to come along side of us. In other words we can’t do this alone nor does God want us to; we need a team that will offer prayer and financial support. This way of life is completely foreign to me, but I know that it’s all part of God’s plan. It excites my socks off to think about the relationships that will spring forth from the partnerships that God will create. I am very much looking forward to sharing His love with those who need Him in the Dominican Republic, but I am just as excited about the relationships that will blossom with those that support us on our journey.
The next few weeks and months will be filled with an unknown amount of unknowns. Under normal circumstances this would result in sending us to the nearest closet where we’d assume the fetal position and stay there until coaxed out. However, God has given us an uncanny amount of peace about this that surpasses understanding. That’s not to say that we don’t have moments where we flee for the closet but it’s temporary and usually because we’ve taken our focus off of Him. We hold firm to the belief that God will provide for our needs as we stay faithful and respond to His call. I hope you are as excited about this as we are and if you’re interested in partnering with us, first, pray about it and then let’s go from there, together.
